Just serve

Feel good while helping out your community.

YouthThink believes in the power of service. The benefits of service go both ways. One of the better-known benefits of volunteer service is the impact on the community. Volunteering allows one to connect to their community and make it a better place. Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people, animals, and organizations in need.

Volunteer service also provides many benefits to both mental and physical health. Did you know that volunteering increases self-confidence? Volunteering has also been found to reduce the risk of depression and social isolation. Helping others kindles happiness. Researchers at the London School of Economics examined the relationship between volunteering and measures of happiness in a large group of American adults, they found the more people volunteered, the happier they were.

JustServe is a nationally recognized volunteer software platform. Groups/organizations looking for help can post projects on the site. Individuals/groups/families can go to the JustServe site (justserve.org), type in their zip code and find volunteer opportunities within their own communities. The more projects listed the more opportunities to serve.

YouthThink has agreed to help promote and assist people in using the site as well as posting projects. If you are interested in learning more please contact Debby at debbyj@co.wasco.or.us
